The Heil PR40 is a great Dynamic Podcast Mic!

Podcasting often takes place in different environments. Different environments require different mic techniques with placements.  If you’re a “Radio Style” type podcaster, the Heil PR series “End Fire” Dynamic Podcast Mic may just be what your looking for.

I tested the PR40 in my studio.  I must say it lives up to its reputation vs. the vaunted Electro-Voice RE20.  It has a crisp sound that doesn’t over emphasize the bottom end, even with the close mic technique required with a broadcast dynamic.

The Heil PR 40 features a new dynamic microphone technology designed for a wide range of professional applications: sophisticated recording, live sound, and commercial broadcast. It has the widest frequency response available in a dynamic microphone. The PR 40 outperforms most condenser microphones, and can withstand huge amounts of SPL. At the same time, it maintains Heil Sound’s tradition of superbly natural voice articulation.

The PR40  is ruggedly built and has a gorgeous nickel finish. The PR-40 comes in a padded leatherette carrying case that also holds the included mic clamp. The clamp has an adapter that screws in to allow the clamp to be used on different sized stands and boom arms.
